Starting small

A calmer way to focus: short sprints, no pressure

Focus timers help some people and stress others. If a rigid countdown makes you tense, you can keep the useful part, a short stretch on one thing, and drop the pressure.

A gentler sprint

  1. Choose one task. Say it out loud or write it down.
  2. Pick a short time. 10, 15 or 25 minutes, whatever feels possible today.
  3. Remove one distraction. Phone face down is enough.
  4. Work until the end. If you drift, return without scolding yourself.
  5. Stop on purpose. Take a real break. A stopped sprint counts, even a short one.
  6. Notice what moved. One line is enough.

If you cannot start the sprint

Use the two-minute version: do only the first two minutes. Then decide.

  • White Space lets you print your tasks onto one calm page.
